OUR STORY
Beginning with a five-month volunteer trip in Australia in 2018, our journey evolved into an international love story. After enduring a year and a half of long-distance, everything shifted when the world closed during the 2020 pandemic.
Due to our different nationalities, we were forced to navigate border closures and visa complications simply to be together and then again to be married in Aruba in 2021. During our international adventures, our love and skill for storytelling unfolded. What started as capturing our own story ignited into a passion of capturing the unique stories of others. This led to us starting our first photo + video business together in the Netherlands.
Before we knew it, we were moving our lives and business from the Netherlands to the United States in 2023… (watch our announcement video for the detailed story!)

Hey, I'm Josh
For more than a decade, music has played a pivotal roll in my life. Since receiving my first guitar at age 10, I've composed over 100 songs, nurturing a profound connection to storytelling. My passion for music has enhanced my ability to craft engaging films. It’s the meticulous music selection and sound design in each video that breathes life into the visuals, immersing viewers in the narrative. This fusion of sound and visuals defines my storytelling ethos.
born in Arizona | lived in Europe for 2 years | traveled to 19 countries | plays piano, guitar, ukulele | started filmmaking and photography with a GoPro | oldest of 5 siblings | loves to jump off bridges and walk too close to the edge (according to Siena) | loves skydiving (she did that one with me)

Even though I only recently embraced photography full-time, it's been a passion for years. As a child, I cherished using my dad’s camera on our family summer vacations. The ability to freeze moments in time, reliving memories years later, holds priceless value to me. Especially now, living an ocean away from my family, these memories are precious. Just as I have loved capturing moments of my own life over the years, I love that I now get to capture the special moments of other people’s lives. I love my job!

When we're not immersed in wedding or commercial shoots, we often enjoy drinking coffee and exploring nature—hiking in any season or embracing the warm (and cold) waters of Lake Michigan. Our active spirit thrives on activities like spikeball, rock climbing, cold plunging, creating friendships, and capturing personal moments through our lenses. Occasionally, we unwind with movie nights or savor cigars and drinks by a backyard bonfire, enjoying the quieter moments amidst our busy lives. Our guilty pleasures include playing Mario Kart and Boomerang Fu on the Switch.

WHY THE NAME WANDR NORTH?
WHY THE NAME WANDR NORTH?
We see life as a journey rather than just a destination. Our lifestyle mirrors this—often venturing onto paths without knowing their end, much like diving into a long-distance-international relationship! That’s where the meaning behind "Wander" comes from. “North” provides direction to the word “Wander” and holds a personal touch, with Josh hailing from Northern Michigan and Siena from Northern Europe. We decided to drop the “e” in “wandr” to add a unique flair, symbolizing how everyone traverses life uniquely.
The blue in our logo reflects our physical location near Lake Michigan and the ocean, symbolizing the connection between the United States and the Netherlands. Plus, blue is Josh’s favorite color! Our logo coordinates lead to Mission Point Lighthouse in Traverse City—a landmark with personal significance. Situated at the 45th parallel, it's where we filmed our first YouTube video years ago and where we eloped in May 2021. These coordinates mark both Wandr North's inception and our physical base.
